Nissan has been teasing us for a while now with their concept crossover model. The Japanese manufacturer has finally showcased its Gripz concept crossover at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Gripz concept has been created by Nissan designers from Japan and Europe. Their goal behind creating this model is to provide a compact crossover that excites people to drive.
Shiro Nakamura, Senior V.P. & Chief Creative Officer. expressed, "Nissan pioneered the idea of the compact crossover, and this is reflected in the enormous popularity of Qashqai and Juke and the resulting growth of the market segment as other manufacturers play catch-up."
He further added, "While the Nissan Gripz Concept is not seen as a direct replacement for either of those two iconic vehicles, it does show the extremes to which the compact crossover can be pushed."
Powering the Gripz concept is Nissan's ‘Pure Drive e-Power' EV technology based series hybrid. It uses a petrol engine to power an electric motor, similar to what is provided in their LEAF hatchback.
Nissan currently sells its Juke crossover to European markets and is the leader in this segment. The Japanese manufacturer will want to maintain its lead in this segment and the Gripz concept is a peek into their future models.
