Maruti To Launch Two Variants Of WagonR AMT In November 2015
Maruti Suzuki will be providing an AMT option to its WagonR model in India very soon. The WagonR hatchback is expected to receive the AMT update within November 2015. Maruti Suzuki could also provide an AMT option to the Stingray model as well.
The AMT will be the same as that offered by Maruti Suzuki in the Celerio and Alto K10 models. Maruti Suzuki does not manufacture this AMT and it is developed by Magneti Marelli. The WagonR will now sport the Auto Gear Shift badge on the rear below the variant badge.
Powering the WagonR will be the same 998cc, inline three-cylinder, petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki will offer its Magneti Marelli sourced 5-speed Auto Gear Shift system. The engine is tuned to deliver 67bhp and 90Nm of peak torque.
Other than the inclusion of the Auto Gear Shift in WagonR, Maruti Suzuki will not be carrying out any mechanical updates. Maruti Suzuki will, however, be offering the WagonR AMT in selected variants. The AMT option is most likely to be available only in LXi and VXi variants.
In terms of design, Maruti Suzuki WagonR will look identical to the current model being offered. The only noticeable difference will be the Auto Gear Shift badge in the rear. Interiors will also remain unchanged in the WagonR AMT option.
Currently, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR LXi model costs Rs. 4.03 lakh ex-showroom and the VXi variant costs Rs.4.28 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Expect an addition of approximately Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 for the new Auto Gear Shift option.
