Maruti Suzuki YBA Compact SUV India Launch By Early-2016
Maruti Suzuki has just launched its very first premium crossover in India, which will be sold through Nexa dealerships. The manufacturer is now planning to introduce new products that will be sold through their new outlets.
An all-new sub 4-metre compact SUV will be introduced by Maruti Suzuki by early-2016. The manufacturer is calling it YBA, which is their internal codename for this new vehicle.
It will borrow design cues from Maruti Suzuki's Baleno hatchback and XA-Alpha concept. The YBA compact SUV will also share elements with Suzuki's Vitara small SUV, which was launched recently.
Engine-wise, Maruti Suzuki would like to equip its YBA compact SUV with petrol and diesel engines. In terms of diesel engines under the hood, it will be the same 1.3-litre mill sourced from Fiat.
With the YBA compact SUV, Maruti Suzuki will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra's soon to be launched TUV300. Several other manufacturers too are looking at exploiting this segment in India.
The YBA is expected to make its debut during 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi during February. The Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback will be globally revealed in production form at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
