Maruti Suzuki To Export New Models To Its Homeland, Japan
Maruti Suzuki has a wide range of products on offer in Indian market. They are also the leading manufacturers and sellers of four-wheeler in the sub-continent.
The Japanese based manufacturer is also a major exporter of vehicles from their Indian facilities. Currently Maruti Suzuki is catering to demand from Africa, Latin America along with South-East and South Asian markets.
Now surprisingly India will manufacturer Suzuki models back to their home in Japan. They will commence this export to Japanese market with their premium hatchback, codenamed YRA.
Currently Ford India is the only automobile manufacturer that is sending products back to developed countries. The ‘Make In India' philosophy and advantages are being well utilised by Ford and will be followed by Suzuki as well.
More premium offerings from Suzuki could be exported to Japanese markets in following years based on demand. The YRA hatchback will be developed in India and the exported to several markets.
It will be interesting to see if Maruti Suzuki would manufacturer specific vehicles that would not be launched in India and only exported to other markets. Possibility of this scenario is relatively high.
