Chennai Flood: Maruti Suzuki To Bear Half The Vehicle Service Cost

Maruti Suzuki has stepped forward to help the flood affected victims in Chennai. The carmaker may not be helping victims directly, but has offered a helping hand by offering to bear 50 percent of the cost of servicing a vehicle.

Many car owners may not have add-ons to the car insurance, which would protect cars from disasters such as floods. Keeping this in mind, Maruti Suzuki has agreed to bear half the cost of servicing the vehicle. According to Maruti Suzuki, around 4,000 cars will need immediate attention.

Since cars were affected by flood, water could have entered a few places in the car's engine compartment, which is supposed to be out of reach for water. Also, electricals will cause a threat, since water will short circuit the wiring and may case the vehicles to catch fire.

According to Maruti Suzuki's company reports, around Rs. 10 crore will be spent on relief efforts and that value might go up. The cars that will need attention now, and there will also be a service check up after two months.
