Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 & K10 To Receive ABS As Safety Update
Maruti Suzuki is the current leader in small car segment of India. During 2014 several Indian automobile were put through a crash test and most failed miserably.
Since then the Indian Government has been trying to make certain safety features mandatory for vehicles. Several manufacturers have already adopted safety features even in their base trims.
Now Maruti Suzuki has decided to offer ABS to their Alto 800 and Alto K10 models. It will still be offered as an option pack and will not be available in the base model as standard equipment.
Currently the Japanese manufacturer offers driver-side airbags in both models. It is available only in their top-end trim and ABS too will be offered in these models.
The Alto 800 and Alto K10 models are exported from India to international markets. These models are offered with dual airbags and ABS as standard safety equipment.
Indian Government plans on making safety features standard by 2017. Manufacturers like Volkswagen and Toyota have already taken a step further and have begun offering airbags as standard safety equipment across their product lineup.
Pricing will surely increase of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Alto K10 due to additional features. We would have liked to see the manufacturer offering safer features as standard in all their models from the base variant.
