Maruti Suzuki will provide the Celerio (hatchback) with safety options across all variants. Customers opting for the Celerio will now have the option to choose between a model with safety features or without. Maruti Suzuki will offer Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and airbags across all variants of Celerio.
Occupant safety is a major concern amongst Indian vehicles and manufacturers. Maruti Suzuki will now be providing several of its model with optional safety equipment, even in base variants. Several other manufacturers too have started offering optional ABS and airbags on most variants.
The Indian Government is going to have compulsory crash tests of all vehicles sold in India. All new vehicles introduced in India after October 2017 will have to pass the Indian crash test assessment. Existing models will also be subjected to crash tests after October 2019.
To pass the crash tests, ABS and airbags is compulsory, and all four-wheelers will need these safety features as a standard feature soon. Maruti Suzuki is taking a step towards the future and will offer their customers with safety features as an option even in base variants.
Previously, Maruti Suzuki provided the Alto 800 and Alto K10 with optional ABS and airbags. Now, the Celerio model will have an option safety pack in all the four variants, these include petrol and diesel models as well.
