Mahindra Verito EV To Be Launched In India During Feb 2016
Mahindra and Mahindra plans to increase its electric vehicle portfolio for the domestic market. The recent ban on the sale of diesel vehicles in Delhi is forcing automobile manufacturers to take steps for a better future. Experts suggest electric vehicles and hybrid options are the only way forward.
The Verito EV model by Mahindra is most likely to be launched in India by February 2016. Mahindra is expected to introduce more electric models in the country in the following year. The Maxximo EV is also expected to go on sale in the Indian market by next year.
Both Verito and Maxximo Electric Vehicles were showcased at 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. Mahindra could introduce the final product at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. Currently, the Maxximo EV by Mahindra is utilised to transport individuals around Taj Mahal.
Both models will be powered by the similar electric motor in Mahindra's e2o. The electric motor will be slightly modified to take on the additional load of Verito or Maxximo. Energy will be stored in lithium-ion battery packs which was developed jointly by Mahindra and Reva.
Mahindra is most likely going to pitch its Verito Electric Vehicle to taxi services. At this moment, several taxi service providers ply within Delhi NCR region. Pollution can be controlled to an extent by implementing electric vehicles for cab services.
