Indian automobile giant Mahindra & Mahindra has seized products from an illegal company based in Hyderabad. They have announced the seizure of goods from a fan manufacturer. The fan manufacturer was situated in Secunderabad and used the ‘Mahindra' trademark to sell its goods.
M/s Mahindra Industries was selling electrical goods. The electrical manufacturer sold induction cookers, fans, mixer-grinders and electric irons under the brand name Mahindra Deluxe. These products were sold in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Mahindra & Mahindra limited had filed a trademark infringement suit in front of the Honourable Bombay High Court. The automobile giant has filed a lawsuit for infringement of the Mahindra trademark.
In this raid, ceiling fans, printed cartons, packaging material, warranty cards, name plates, stickers and many more goods were found with Mahindra signage. All the raided material has been seized and confiscated by the Court Receiver.
Naveen Raju, General Counsel and Senior Vice President - Group Legal Services, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed, "The Mahindra brand name has been a symbol of trust and credibility for over six decades and we consider trademark infringements as a very serious matter. We are happy that we have been able to take effective action in this instance and will continue to do so in every such case."
The Bombay High Court had sent out an order for search and seizure at M/s. Mahindra Industries premises. They had also sent out an order for ex-parte ad interim injunction from Bombay High Court. Local police officials along with Mahindra & Mahindra legal team raided two warehouses of M/s. Mahindra Industries in Gautham Nagar, Secunderabad.
