Mahindra Busts Fake Part Manufacturers
Mahindra, one of India's leading four-wheeler manufacturers, carried out a raid to bust counterfeit parts that were being sold in the Indian market.
Recently, a team from Mahindra raided Delhi's Kashmiri Gate and found a rich haul of fake spares that of the automotive segment and of farm equipments.
Mahindra had conducted similar raids in Chennai and Guntur a few months earlier and seized thousands of fake automotive spare parts.
These raids were conducted by Mahindra, who had appointed police as well as specialist agencies together to exclusively carry out these operations.
Hemant Sikka, the Chief Purchase Officer for Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors of Mahindra and Mahindra said, "We are very concerned about the problem since it directly affects our customers. I have travelled through virtually every nook and corner of India and am amazed to see this happening."
Sale of fake or counter parts is a big blow to automotive companies as they are not reliable and will harm the vehicle, customer sentiment, as well as the company's reputation.
Along with Mahindra, South Korean carmaker Hyundai has also reportedly been busting out counterfeit parts.
Observers feel that more such action is needed from automobile manufacturers because what Mahindra has done is just shave a tip off the massive iceberg.
