DC Avanti, as most of us know is a sports car made in India, by DC Designs. There was a lot of mixed emotions when the car was launched since some really liked the concept of a sports car being made in India, while some just thought the car was not good enough to be called a sports car.
For those who thought it was not good enough, DC has come up with a limited edition model, called the DC Avanti 310. So if one is wondering what is special about the car, well, there is a big list. To start, the car will be made in very limited numbers, 31 to be exact.
Engine, Specification And Transmission
Powering the DC Avanti 310 is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine sourced from Renault, but the difference is how much horsepower it makes. The standard car produced 250bhp, while the limited edition 310 makes 310bhp. There are no details as to how DC extracted more power, but there is a high possibility that the turbo has been tweaked.
The engine is mated to an optional six-speed automated manual gearbox, with paddle shifters that has been designed in-house. The manual transmission will still be offered though, for those looking for the classic stick shift. Performance figures have not been revealed yet.
The mid-mounted engine layout continues and the car has been lowered by 20mm, which now stands at 150mm. The reason is that the suspension system has been lowered to make the car more aerodynamic, to handle the extra power.
All the major changes are not restricted to the engine alone. The car features carbon-fibre on the front splitter, rear diffuser, and the spoiler. The limited edition DC Avanti 310 also features LED headlamps and tail lamps, which give the car a fresh look.
Moving to the interior of the car, there is Alcantara leather finished sports seats, steering wheel finished in the same material, and a TFT instrument display with sport gauges.
Making a car fast means it has to be safer as well. The DC Avanti 310 comes with stiffer anti-roll bars that not only make the car handle better, but offer some safety to an extent. We just hope airbags are made standard with the limited edition model.
So, with so much goodies on offer, we can only expect the price of the car to go up as well. The standard version of the DC Avanti is priced at around Rs. 35 lakh and the limited edition Avanti 310 will cost around Rs. 44 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi), when launched in April 2016.
