Isuzu Opens First Dealership In Kolkata; Wants India To Be Export Base
Isuzu has opened its first dealership outlet in Kolkata. At the showroom inauguration, Shigeru Wakabayashi, the Deputy Managing Director of Isuzu Motors India said, "We are extremely happy to be here in Kolkata, as we are progressing rapidly in terms of our network expansion."
"With our presence in Kolkata, we will provide customers in the east unique advantages of our product portfolio that will help them invigorate their businesses. We are happy to be partnering with ‘Mohan Motor Isuzu', as they are well known for their customer-oriented approach."
Also, the company is looking to make India the base for the company's exports. The company's first target will be to export to Middle East and then to the African countries.
Isuzu's new plant in Andhra Pradesh will get commissioned by April. At the moment, the company is assembling its vehicles at Hindustan Motors' facility at Tiruvallur near Chennai.
The company wants to base its exports in India since production costs in Thailand are much higher when compared. Currently manufacturing SUVs and pickups, Isuzu is eyeing the pickup market than the SUVs.
The company will start with 70 percent localisation to start off with and is looking to gain 100 percent localisation soon after.
