Isuzu MU-X SUV Could Be On Its Way To India
Isuzu Motors has recently entered the Indian market with a selected offering. They currently offer a single SUV in their passenger vehicle segment, MU-7 is their premium offering in India.
The Japanese manufacturer seems to have realised that Indian market has great potential. Isuzu is contemplating on offering their MU-X SUV to Indian customers.
Isuzu has already imported their MU-X SUV to India for research and development purposes. This is an indicator that the manufacturer is looking at options of launching it here.
Almost every manufacturer has learnt that to make a profit in India, they will have to at least locally assemble their vehicles. Isuzu will also be looking at options to exploit this method to improve sales of its products.
The MU-X will be powered by a 2.5-litre diesel mill, which will generate 134 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with no automatic option as of now.
It is most likely that Isuzu will debut its MU-X at 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi. We expect the Japanese manufacturer to launch this product in sub INR 20,00,000 bracket.
Isuzu's MU-X will compete with the like of Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner. All these SUVs are well known in India and Isuzu will have to come up with a different strategy.
