South Korean manufacturer of automobiles, Hyundai had recently launched its next-gen hatchback. They re-christened their i20 as the new Elite i20 hatchback. Since, then the manufacturer has been in the news as they plan to introduce several new products as well.
Every manufacturer is trying to gain more sales by offering innovative products. Hyundai will be soon introducing its first crossover for Indian market. It has now been confirmed through their sketch that the model will be called i20 Active.
This new crossover by Hyundai has been designed at their design centre in Russelsheim, Germany. The South-Korean manufacturer has confirmed that their i20 Active will be launched in India during March, 2015, which will also mark its global debut.
Hyundai India has not revealed engine specification or other options. We believe, the South Korean manufacturer will provide its i20 Active with similar engine options to that of their hatchback.
Hyundai offers one petrol and diesel engine with its Elite i20 hatchback:
- The petrol powered Elite i20 gets a 1197cc engine, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It generates 82 horsepower, along with 115 Nm of peak torque and deliver a fuel efficiency of 18.6 kpl.
- The diesel powered Elite i20 gets a 1396cc engine, which is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It generates 89 horsepower, along with 220 Nm of peak torque and deliver a fuel efficiency of 22.54 kpl.
Noticeable difference on the Hyundai i20 Active is increased ground clearance, protective cladding, redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels, larger and prominent fog lamps are a few additions. The interiors are expected to get more features and more creature comforts.
