Hyundai India has also confirmed that they will be launching their first crossover for India in March, 2015. It will also be the global debut of i20 Active, just as they did with their Elite i20 hatchback.
It is most likely that Hyundai will provide the same engine that powers their Elite i20. The i20 Active will get a petrol and diesel engine, which will be unchanged from their hatchback version. It will be priced a bit higher than their hatchback version, owing to added features.
The South-Korean manufacturer explains that i20 Active has been designed at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe, which is located at Russelsheim, Germany. This crossover will be offered in other countries as well and marks its global debut in India.
Crossover market in India is one of the growing trends in the automobile sector. Hyundai i20 Active will have to fend off competition from the likes of Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Polo Cross in India.
Hyundai India recently launched its all-new 4S Fluidic Verna sedan. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Their base model is priced at INR 7,74,000 to INR 12,19,000 ex-showroom, Delhi.
