Hyundai Elite i20 To Get All-New 1.0-litre Petrol Turbo Engine
Hyundai Elite i20 was launched in India almost a year ago and has been their best-seller ever since. Their premium hatchback is expected to go on sale in several international markets.
The Korean automobile manufacturer is most likely to showcase European Elite i20 in September, 2015. Hyundai will take the opportunity to debut their hatchback at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
They are also likely to provide the European Elite i20 with a 1.0-litre petrol turbo engine. This is the same Hyundai engine that does duty in their smaller vehicle, the i10, in European markets.
Here are the specs that could be provided on Elite i20 European model:
- Engine: 1.0-litre Kappa, direct injection and turbocharger
- Horsepower: 118.32
- Torque: 175Nm
- Gearbox: manual and automatic transmission
There are also rumours that this 1.0-litre Kappa petrol turbo engine could get a special gearbox. Hyundai could equip its Elite i20 with a 7-speed DCT for European markets only.
It will be interesting to see if Hyundai would bring this engine option to Indian shores. If they do, it is most likely to adorn a sports badge and will attract several speed enthusiasts to Hyundai's Elite i20.
