Hyundai was recently provided a name to their compact SUV, which was codenamed ix25. They have now decided to move the launch date ahead in India to next month.
Creta is scheduled for an Indian launch on 21st of July, 2015. Hyundai India is expected to commence production of their compact SUV by mid-June, 2014.
Hyundai's Creta will be a compact SUV, however, it would not fit in the sub-4 metre category. It will compete against the likes of Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in Indian market.
The Korean manufacturer will provide its Creta with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. It will be the same engine that is currently used in their Verna 4S sedan.
Engineers will also provide an automatic transmission, which will be the first in this segment. Hyundai's Creta will be the only compact SUV to be available in automatic option for both petrol and diesel.
Hyundai India recently launched its Elantra model in India, previous to that they have launched Verna 4S, Elite i20 and i20 Active models. The Creta will be priced between INR 12,00,000 to INR 15,00,000 ex-showroom.
