Honda City Fastest Mid-Size Sedan To Touch One Lakh Sales In India
Honda India has launched its fourth generation City in 2014. It was the fourth generation of the mid-size sedan from the Japanese manufacturer for Indian market.
The Japanese manufacturer has sold over one lakh mid-size sedan in India. Honda Cars India Limited claim they have achieved this feat in a matter of 15 months.
Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, HCIL, expressed, "This is a very proud moment for us. City brand has been the face of Honda in India, enjoying strong leadership and popularity in its segment ever since its launch."
He also said, "We would like to thank our customers for the confidence & continuous support that has enabled the brand to grow from strength to strength. While retaining the traditional set of sedan buyers, the new City has been able to attract a large number of young buyers."
The fourth generation of Honda City is the second vehicle in their stable to sport a diesel mill. This move has definitely boosted their sales as Indian vehicle buyers prefer diesel powered engines over petrol powered vehicles.
Honda launched its first City mid-size sedan in India during 1998. Since then it has gone through extensive design and engineering changes. Till date the Japanese manufacturer has sold 4.3 lakh vehicles in India.
