Honda BR-V Compact SUV To Be Produced In India By Mid-2016
Honda BR-V compact SUV will enter production for the Indian market by mid-2016. This means that the vehicle could only be introduced by late-2016 or early 2017 by the Japanese automobile manufacturer.
The BR-V is based on their Brio platform itself, which has provided us with a hatchback, compact sedan, MPV and now a compact SUV. Honda has already showcased this model at Indonesia Motor Show and received an overwhelming response.
Honda is most likely to produce their all-new BR-V at their facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. This compact SUV is expected to receive both a petrol and diesel engine option for the Indian market.
An all-new 1.6-litre diesel mill is expected to be provided in Honda's BR-V. This new engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT gearbox. This same engine is provided internationally in Honda CR-V and Civic.
The Japanese manufacturer will be offering several safety features with its BR-V compact SUV. ABS with EBD and dual front airbags is expected to be standard equipment on Honda's upcoming BR-V model.
Honda will be providing their BR-V compact SUV with a 2+3+2 seat layout, thus accommodating seven passengers. The seating configuration will be an added incentive over the Indian competitors.
In India, Honda BR-V will face tough competition from several automobile manufacturers. Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai's Creta all of which are popular in the Indian compact SUV segment.
Stay tuned for more updates as and when we receive them from Honda India. We are expecting to see the Honda BR-V on display at Auto Expo in Delhi during February 2016.
