Formula One 2016 Calendar Announced; India Excluded
The 2016 calendar for Formula One Championship is announced. Unfortunately, India once again does not make the cut and this surely is bad news for fans and enthusiasts. Formula One governing body has included some new venues as well for the 2016 Championship.
Previously, Formula One races were spaced out and in 2015, there were 20 races across the globe. Surprisingly, the 2016 season does not witness race cuts and gets an additional new circuit in the calendar, thus taking the tally up to 21 races in a single season.
Here is the 2016 Formula One calendar:
- Australia - March 30, 2016
- Bahrain - April 3, 2016
- China - April 17, 2016
- Sochi - May 1, 2016
- Spain - May 15, 2016
- Monaco - May 29, 2016
- Canada - June 12, 2016
- Baku - June 19, 2016
- Austria - July 3, 2016
- Great Britain - July 10, 2016
- Hungary - July 24, 2016
- Germany - July 31, 2016
- Belgium - August 28, 2016
- Italy - September 24, 2016
- Singapore - September 18, 2016
- Malaysia - October 2, 2016
- Japan - October 9, 2016
- USA - October 23, 2016
- Mexico - October 30, 2016
- Brazil - November 13, 2016
- Abu Dhabi - November 27, 2016
The Baku race is new to 2016 Formula One calendar and the race start will be altered, so that it does not conflict with 24 Hours of Le Mans finish. Officials have also confirmed that the United States of America GP is still in doubt and could be cancelled if an agreement is not reached by the promoter and ASN.
All teams and drivers will now commence pre-season testing before practice is forbidden. Scuderia Ferrari is expected to get closer to Mercedes-AMG in 2016 Championship. McLaren-Honda will be feverishly working over the winter break searching for more performance.
