Formula E Punta del Este ePrix To Be Contested On Dec 19

Round three of Formula E 2015-2016 season will be contested in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The ePrix will be contested on December 19, 2015, with race and qualifying on the same day. Punta del Este is a street circuit that runs beside the sea coast.

Currently, Lucas DI Grassi in his ABT Schaeffler sits on top of the Drivers Standings with 43 points. He is closely followed by Sebastian Buemi of Renault e.Dams with 35 points. Sam Bird of DS Virgin Racing Formula E Team is in third with 17 points.

Nick Heidfeld of Mahindra Racing Formula E Team is down in fourth. Unfortunately, the German driver will not be taking part in Punta del Este ePrix owing to an injury that requires surgery and will keep him out till the next race.

Earlier this week, Trulli Formula E Team confirmed that they have withdrawn from the Championship. The team missed out on the opening two rounds due to unforced errors. The first round was missed due to parts being held up in customs while round two seen them fail the scrutineering.

When one door closes another opens is a popular phrase and fits perfectly in any motorsport. As Team Trulli exits, Jaguar will be taking their place with Williams Advanced Engineering who will take part in 2016-2017 Championship.

In India, the Punta del Este ePrix can be viewed on Star Sports 4 and Star Sports 4 HD. The race will be showcased at 00:00 IST December 20, 2015. Formula E is getting interesting with every race and we will have to wait and see how the Punta del Este ePrix fairs.
