US Secretary Of State Visits Ford India Plant In Gujarat
The Secretary of State for the US, John Kerry, visited the upcoming manufacturing facility that Ford have built in Gujarat. This facility in Sanand, will double the American carmaker's production in India.
A spokesperson for Ford India said, "Ford's upcoming plant at Sanand is envisioned as a state-of-the-art facility and recently played host to Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of a visit to Gujarat."
US Secretary of state, John Kerry visited this facility of Ford during his trip to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state to attend the 7th Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
Being Ford's second plant in India, the company has invested a billion dollars to double its production and will be functional by the end of the first quarter of 2015. The first Ford manufacturing facility is in Chennai.
Ford's new plant will have a production capacity of 2.4 lakh vehicles and 2.7 lakh engines per year. Once the plant is complete, Ford India will have a production capacity of 4.4 lakh vehicles and 6.1 lakh engines every year.
The Spokesperson from Ford said, "Seen as a symbol of US-India cooperation and Ford's commitment to India, Ford's Sanand plant in Gujarat is gearing to be fully operational, with vehicles and engines rolling off the assembly line by the end of first quarter in 2015."
The American automaker is looking forward to increasing the company's export as well from India.
