Fiat Jeep To Be Made In India & Bear Price Tag Of INR 15,00,000
Fiat has been planning to bring its Jeep brand of SUVs to India for a while now. To maximise profits, however, they would have to manufacture vehicles locally rather than offering CBUs.
Currently, the Indian Government sticks a 180 percent tax on direct import of vehicles in the country. Iconic American brand Jeep will develop a budget conscious right hand drive model for Asian markets.
The all-new made in India Jeep SUV would be priced attractively within the INR 15,00,000 price range. Do not get too excited as this model will roll on Indian roads not before mid-2017.
Fiat Chrysler plans to make India its global manufacturing hub for several of their models. Jeep, which will be made in India, will be exported to Australia, Britain, South Africa and south east Asia as well.
Fiat India will offer its Grand Cherokee and Wrangler models as Completely Built Units, which will attract high import taxes. They will also showcase their products at 2016 Auto Expo.
Italian manufacturer introduced its Abarth brand in India on 4th August, 2015. Abarth 595 Competizione was launched and will be followed by Abarth Punto Evo and Avventura models.
