Fiat Chrysler Automobiles(FCA) has several brands under its guidance. For a couple of years now they have been planning to bring its Jeep brand to Indian shores, however, it has not worked out.
Now Fiat Chrysler Automobile has confirmed that they will commence production of Jeep in India by 2017. They will be entering into a strategic partnership with Tata Motors.
Tata Motors will enter an expanded joint venture deal with FCA for Jeep production. Local production is vital for success of Jeep in major markets like India.
They will be investing approximately USD 280 million in Jeep production facility in India. Sergio Marchionne, FCA Chief Executive, promises that that it will boost sales from 2018 onwards.
Previously Jeep products were set to enter Indian market during 2015 as Completely Built Units. Jeep was supposed to introduce their Cherokee and Wrangler models, which could now be pushed forward.
