Fiat Abarth Punto India Launch Confirmed For 19th October
Fiat Abarth Punto is confirmed to be launching their hot-hatch in the country on 19th of October 2015. Dealerships have commenced pre-booking of their performance hatchback across India.
Previously Abarth introduced their first product in the Indian market. It was the Abarth 595 Competizione, which was launched at Buddh International Circuit a fitting venue for a performance vehicle.
The Abarth Punto will be produced at the Italian's Ranjangaon facility. This will be the very first Abarth put together locally and we expect pricing to be highly competitive. Fiat is most likely to price the Abarth Punto within 10 lakh price bracket.
A 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine will be at the heart of Abarth Punto. This engine will develop 145 horsepower and will be capable of hitting 100 kph from a standstill in a matter of 8.8 seconds.
Abarth engineers will be pairing their engine to a 5-speed manual transmission. The ride height of Abarth Punto has also been lowered for better driving dynamics.
Several safety features will standard with Abarth Punto. The engineers will provide a hill-start assist, Electronic Stability Programme, hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS with EBD and seven airbags.
Exterior will get special colours and Abarth decals across the bodywork. The main attraction will be the stylish 16-inch alloy wheels with Abarth logo in the centre. The exhaust system is also expected to be updated for a racy exhaust note.
Interiors are also expected to get special Abarth treatment. The Punto will get exclusive upholstery with contrast stitching. Abarth will also provide racing metal floor pedals and the exclusive Scorpion Badge.
