Formula One paddock moved to their second Grand Prix in 2015, which was held in Malaysia. Scuderia Ferrari has finally come to the party and showcased that it has made improvements by leaps and bounds over winter testing.
Sebastian Vettel has won his first race under the Scarlet Red livery. Critics will cry that it was not a clean win, however, we believe the German Ferrari driver took a gamble with his tyre change strategy, which worked in his favour.
Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were surely fast. They could not make their tyres work to their advantage. Scuderia Ferrari on the other hand had its tyres working just as they wanted.
For the first time since last year there was someone who took the challenge up to Mercedes dominance. There was not a single moment when the Ferrari looked troubled by Hamilton or Rosberg.
There was plenty of overtaking and wheel banging lower down the order. Sergio Perez of Force India touched Romain Grosjean, which sent him into a 360 degree spin. The Mexican driver was penalised with a 10 second stop-go penalty.
McLaren Honda was clearly struggling as Fernando Alonso's race debut for the team ended with a vehicle issue. Jenson Button followed into the pits after a few laps with perhaps similar issues.
The next race is scheduled for 12th April, 2015 at the Shanghai International Circuit. We will be keen to see if Scuderia Ferrari can maintain the pace shown in Malaysia.
