Fernando Alonso Uncertain Over Future Role In 2016
Fernando Alonso witnessed a terrible outing in 2015 with McLaren Honda. Alonso and teammate Jenson Button were competing low down the order and were never a threat to the front runners. Honda's underpowered engines were to be blamed for 2015 Championship spectacle.
During the entire season, Fernando Alonso clearly voiced his displeasure with the McLaren Honda engine. He has criticised that the engine feels just like a GP2 machine and not a performance packed Formula One engine.
There is a high possibility that Fernando Alonso could sit out for 2016 Championship. Former McLaren driver Mika Hakkinen and two-time Formula One Champion came out and has asked Alonso not to take a sabbatical from active competition.
Rumours have also hinted that Fernando Alonso could head back to the returning Renault team. Based on Renault's previous performance they were stronger than McLaren, however, are not in a position to compete for the Championship.
Alonso could only manage 11 points in entire 2015 Formula One season. Importantly, he was beaten by Jenson Button who scored five more points. Overall, McLaren Honda was ninth in the Constructors title out of ten teams, beating Marussia.
Sebastian Vettel took Fernando Alonso's seat in Scuderia Ferrari. The four-time Formula One Champion drove brilliantly and secured third place in the Championship in the very first year with Ferrari. Fernando Alonso surely was flabbergasted by this performance compared to his own.
