Datsun GoCross (Crossover Model) Could Launch Ahead Of Redi-GO In India

By Ajinkya

Datsun could be launching the GoCross ahead of the Redi-GO in the Indian market. The GoCross is a crossover model while the Redi-GO is an affordable hatchback by Datsun. Both models have been showcased in concept guise.

The GoCross was recently showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. This crossover is based on their existing platform of Go hatchback and Go+ compact station wagon. Datsun will utilise the sub 4-metre frame to make their GoCross spacious, yet affordable for emerging markets.

Datsun GoCross will share several parts and components with the existing Go and Go+ models. The chances of the GoCross crossover model being ready soon are high, and we could see a close to production model at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi.

GoCross will receive new alloy-wheels, plastic side cladding, higher ground clearance, skid plates, and a more muscular front and rear bumper. All this will be added to the existing platform, and there is a high possibility of the crossover to launch ahead of the Redi-GO.

On the other hand, Redi-GO is an affordable hatchback model and is based on a new platform. Datsun will be making use of the CMF-A platform developed by Renault-Nissan alliance. Datsun's Redi-GO will be an all-new product with a new engine under the hood as well.

All the new products developed by Datsun are aimed at emerging markets like India, Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa. India is expected to play a major role in the success of Datsun, as they could be making their Indian facility an export hub.
