BMW i8 Hybrid Sportscar Participates In FAME India Eco Drive 2015
On 5th of June, 2015 the entire world celebrated Environment Day. Several automotive companies showcased their environment friendly products or took an oath for a cleaner tomorrow.
BMW India also was part of World Environment Day as they took part in FAME India Eco Drive 2015. The German manufacturer turned up with their i8 hybrid sportscar for this event.
Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India expressed, "The world we live in is changing and a changing world constantly demands new ideas. The global automotive industry is witnessing a paradigm shift from the conventional combustion engine to sustainable mobility solutions. And, so is India."
He further added, "With growing urbanization and increasing environmental challenges, the BMW i8 is the perfect solution to the mobility needs of the Indian luxury consumer living in the upcoming megacities of the country."
BMW engineers have provided their i8 with an electric motor for front wheels. The rear wheels are powered by a 1.5-litre three cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine.
The i8 hybrid sportscar can achieve a top speed of 120 kph on pure electricity. BMW has managed to extend the range of their machine, on battery power alone it has a range of 35 kilometres.
