BlaBlaCar, Ola Gearing Up For Odd-Even Formula
The odd-even formula in Delhi, which is a step taken to reduce traffic congestion and reduce air pollution has created quite a stir in the capital city. Taxi aggregators are taking measures to follow the rule as well, since BlaBlaCar is offering rides as per the rule.
The French online taxi aggregator will launch a new feature that will allow customers to chose rides on specific days, depending on the state government's new odd-even formula.
The Delhi government will implement this odd-even formula strategy, effective 1 January, 2016. Under this rule, vehicles that end with an even number and odd number on the number plate will run on alternate days in Delhi.
This odd-even scheme by the Delhi government will implemented for 15 days initially as a trial, and if positive impacts are recorded, decision would be taken to extend the rule. Other taxi aggregators like Ola are ensuring they have sufficient cars in its fleet to meet with demand once the rule is implemented.
