Audi plans to introduce its all-new Q2 mini SUV at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The German manufacturer will only be showcasing the mini SUV in Geneva, launch of Q2 will be slated for a later date. The new Audi Q2 will be the entry-level model in the SUV segment.
Currently, the Q3 compact SUV by Audi is their entry-level product and is extremely popular in several markets. The Q2 mini SUV will be placed below Audi's Q3 in terms of pricing as well as size. Audi will be for the first time entering the mini SUV segment.
VW Group will be providing its MQB platform for Audi's Q2 mini SUV. Under the hood of new Q2 will be a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Audi engineers are most likely to provide manual as well as automatic transmissions. The Q2 could also get an all-wheel-drive Quattro system.
The interior and exterior design of new Q2 mini SUV will be inspired by existing Audi models. Interior of the mini SUV will be premium and upmarket from Audi. The exterior design of Audi's Q2 will be subtle and typical to their SUV design philosophy.
It is unclear if Audi will bring the Q2 mini SUV to Indian shores. The Q3 compact SUV from Audi is popular in India among young buyers. With the inclusion of Audi's Q2, the manufacturer could target first-time vehicle buyers to a luxury brand and can boost its sales in the country.
