2015 Detroit Auto Show: 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel Is All Beef, No Veggies
Ram Trucks have revealed the latest entrant to their line up, the Ram 1500 Rebel. The all-new truck boasts a fresh off-road-style design package that the company says was in the pipeline for a while.
"Offering an off-road-style package on the Ram 1500 has been on our to-do list for some time but the right combination didn't present itself until now," said Bob Hegbloom, President and CEO - Ram Truck Brand, FCA US LLC. "The Rebel drops right into a core segment of the truck market with unique design cues and can-do attitude backed by Ram Truck engineering."
The new design features an all-new blacked out grille with prominent ‘RAM' lettering taking pride of position. The Ram 1500 Rebel also gets new tow hooks and a silver-finish skid plate. The blacked out theme continues on the wheel arch mouldings, lower body panels, mirrors and badge. All this comes together rather impressively, and the Ram has probably never looked better.
Specs-wise, the Rebel features the multi-award winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that produces 305 hp or a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 with 395 hp on tap. The new truck is available with both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains and gets an eight-speed automatic transmission that is claimed to offer improved driveability and efficiency.
