Few cars can complement a good driver like the Porsche Cayman can. The popular German sports car has one of the best balances of performance and handling in the world, and has served up its unique offering since its launch in 2006. But now, things have gotten more serious than ever before, since the bad ass 2015 Cayman GT4 has just been revealed.
It's lower, faster and more powerful than any Cayman before, and that's mainly because a majority of its components have been sourced from the 911 GT3. The GT4 rides 30mm lower than the standard-spec model, and with acceleration figures of 4.4 seconds for the nought-to-hundred dash, you can be sure that the 385 horses of the 3.8-litre, 911 Carrera S-derived engine will also work to get you up to its rather impressive top whack of 183mph.
Big news is that the Cayman GT4 will be available only with a manual transmission, something that will put off the semi-automatic PDK section of Porsche society, but the same should have classic Porsche fans rejoicing. Three pedals or none, that's what the legendary German carmaker is saying.
The GT4 can be specced with options like ceramic brakes, shell-backed CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) seats, a custom Sport Chrono Package or a Club Sport Package. Just so you can take the pretenders to the cleaners on track days.
So there you have it. The latest Cayman GT4 looks stunning and is capable of performance equivalent to the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3. Cars that can achieve Nurburgring Nordschleife lap times in the region of 7 minutes and 40 seconds are rarely available at this starting price (from £64,451 or around INR 60 lakh), and one gets the feeling several Cayman loyalists must have already signed along the dotted lines by the time you read this story.
