2015 Geneva Motor Show: Aston Martin DBX Concept Breaks Cover
British luxury car maker, Aston Martin was present at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The manufacturer has showcased a few new products at the motor show. They have showcased their first crossover model, which is expected to go into production.
Aston Martin is calling their crossover concept as the DBX and we believe they should stick with the name. The model will be produced as a full-sized SUV and not a crossover. Designers and engineers have showcased this model to witness reaction towards the concept.
Aston Martin also confirmed that its DBX concept will be powered by an electric motor. It will be a first for the manufacturer as they will develop an all-wheel drive electric SUV. The electric power will be stored in lithium sulphur cells and will feature a drive by wire electric steering. They will also provide carbon ceramic brakes with kinetic energy recovery system or KERS.
Dr Andy Palmer, CEO, Aston Martin, commented, "The DBX Concept is a challenge to the existing status quo in the high luxury GT segment. It envisages a world, perhaps a world not too far away, when luxury GT travel is not only stylish and luxurious but also more practical, more family-friendly and more environmentally responsible."
He further added, "This is, clearly, not a production-ready sports GT car, but it is a piece of fresh, bold thinking about what Aston Martin GT customers around the world could request of us in the future. I asked my team at Aston Martin to expand their thinking beyond conventions, to explore what the future of luxury GT motoring would look like in years ahead, and the DBX Concept you see before you is the result."
