Yokohama Commence Production Of Tyres At Indian Facility
Yokohama Rubber Company came to India back in 2007 and is now known as Yokohama India, which is a 100 percent subsidiary of its parent company. The tyre manufacturing company was founded in 1917, its headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan.
Yokohama is called as ‘Advan' in Japan and was a joint venture between B.F. Goodrich and Yokohama Cable Manufacturing. They currently manufacturer tyres in United States of America at Salem, Virginia. They are a popular tyre brand in the aftermarket scene.
The Japanese tyre manufacturer has setup a facility in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, India. Yokohama has invested over INR 300 crore in their Indian facility. They will be capable of manufacturing 2,000 tyre a day with ease. The facility can produce more tyre in a day if need be.
The Japanese inaugurated their Indian facility in February this year. This is the very first facility by Yokohama in India. They will be manufacturing tyre specific to Indian road conditions. The Japanese tyre company has named its tyre for India as ‘Yokohama Earth-1'.
Yokohama Earth-1 tyres has been designed keeping in mind our road conditions. The fact that they are being made in India will bring down its cost considerably compared to if they were imported to us.
The Japanese tyre manufacturer will offer various tyre sizes to suit most vehicles. Yokohama have priced its Indian made tyre reasonably ranging from Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 6,150. It will be available only as a tubeless option and is constructed for longer tread life. The tyre also comes with a standard warranty of five years from manufacture.
