Volkswagen To Introduce Affordable Vehicles In India
German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has found it tough to sell high volumes in India. They will be launching a new Polo in the following months, however, it won't be the most price sensitive vehicle. There are now reports that the German manufacturer could launch a new range of affordable products.
Volkswagen is working towards a compact SUV, compact sedan and a hatchback. These new products will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Honda and Hyundai. It is expected that the German automobile manufacturer will make an official announcement soon.
Volkswagen's current facility in India is in Pune, where they have invested approximately INR 4,000 crore. The German manufacturer has not been able to achieve the sales target it set for itself. They are finding it hard to compete against the likes of its Japanese contenders.

The German manufacturer currently sells the Polo hatchback and Vento sedan in India, which are doing well in India. Volkswagen has realised the demand of vehicles in the compact SUV segment. Its competitors already have a product or are about to launch a vehicle in the segment.
Currently the compact sedan and hatchback segment has been dominated by Maruti Suzuki's Swift Dzire and Celerio. Honda's Amaze is not far behind, however, the Volkswagen products are far away in terms of sales. When it comes to reliability and safety, the German manufacturer is on top of its competitors. They are the only manufacturer that provides airbags as a standard feature in hatchbacks.
