Volkswagen Could Enter Formula One In The Coming Years
German automobile manufacturer and owner of several other automotive brands, Volkswagen are the second largest manufacturer automobile manufacturer around the globe. They are also present in several motorsport events around the world.
Currently two teams have backed out from Formula One competition. Caterham and Marussia will not be competing in the following year. FIA officials were planning of running three cars per team. They have now decided they will not ask teams to run three cars per team.
Volkswagen is now contemplating joining the premier league of racing. The German manufacturer was recently in the news for hiring ex-Ferrari team Principal, Stefano Domenicali. He was hired to manage the Audi brand, which is part of VW Group.
They are at the moment ascertaining the feasibility of competing in Formula One. Stefano has prior experience in the Formula One paddock and the German manufacturer will want to capitalise on this advantage.
There is a difference of opinion between Formula One's head honcho Bernie Ecclestone and VW top management. They will not enter the competition until Bernie is in the management. This could take a while and could ruin the chance of entering Formula One soon.
Volkswagen currently organise their Polo Cup Race in India. It is a great opportunity for aspiring racers to try their hand at the sport. They also had a successful run in WRC, which they have been winning on several occasions.
