Japanese auto maker Suzuki said that their new plant coming up in Gujarat will be ready by the year 2017. The car factory that is coming up, was chosen to be built in Gujarat because of the state's good power and infrastructure.
Osamu Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation said that Gujarat has very good road infrastructure and very good power supply.
Speaking about the Prime Minister, the chairman of Suzuki said that Modi is a friend. Since Modi focused on the power and infrastructure issue and worked on improving Gujarat, it made it a good power state. This is the reason why Suzuki chose Gujarat to open their new plant.
Once the plant in Gujarat is ready, Maruti Suzuki India's annual production will reach the three million mark from the present 1.5 million.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is in the process of asking its shareholders to allow Suzuki Motor Corporation to own as well as invest for the new plant in Gujarat.
In case there is a contract termination of manufacturing agreement between Maruti and Suzuki, the facilities at the Gujarat plant will be transferred to MSIL at book value.
