Suzuki End Production Of Kizashi & Grand Vitara Models
Japanese automobile giant Suzuki had launched their premium SUV and luxury sedan in several markets. The Grand Vitara and Kizashi were excellent products, however, they failed to impress most buyers.
Maruti Suzuki had brought both products to India as well. The Kizashi was a competitor to Honda's Accord luxury sedan. Suzuki's Grand Vitara was also offered in India at a time, where premium SUV market was not explored yet.
It is rather unfortunate that the Japanese manufacturer has now announced that it has ended production of both models. Both vehicles were manufactured in Suzuki's facility in Iwata. The manufacturer exported Kizashi and Grand Vitara to almost all international markets.
Suzuki has not announced any direct replacement vehicles for their phased out products. They have, however, used the Vitara name for their compact SUV, which was showcased at this years Paris Motor Show. It is expected to be launched soon and may even come to India.
The Kizashi name has not been used again by Suzuki. They have instead used design cues from it for their new Ciaz sedan. It has been a huge hit in India and is expected to take other markets by storm as well. It rivals Honda's City sedan in India, which is popular with many Indians.
The Ciaz will be named in certain markets as Alivio and will soon be launched in several international markets. Suzuki had chosen the names of their luxury sedans strategically. Kizashi means ‘Sign Of Good Things To Come', however, with the confirmation of its end in production, it rather is a sad sign.
