Smoking And Driving Could Lead To Suspension Of Licence In Gujarat
People smoking in their vehicles is very common. It seems totally harmless and okay to do it to a few. Now, the Regional Transport Authority (RTO) will take action against smoking in cars which could end up in one losing their licence.
The Transport Commissioner of Gujarat has made a list of 19 offences like speeding, smoking, using mobile phones while driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, parking vehicles inappropriately on the road, overloading vehicles, etc. that if committed, would result in the person facing the consequences.
The officials have enough power to dismiss the driving licence of people who disobey these rules.
BM Prajapati, Regional Transport Officer has clearly stated that the traffic department of the city police that stoPS vehicle owners for ignoring motor vehicle rules, will take action against offenders.

If the vehicle owner is caught disobeying any of the 19 rules that are listed by the Commissioner then they will take action. First, a notice is served and then if ignored, the driving licence will either be suspended or terminated.
Officers say that there are numerous cases of vehicles speeding beyond the permitted limit and most of them are youngsters. They say that the department will take up tough measures for these offenders to keep roads safe.
