Skoda Fabia Could Be Re-Launched In India By 2015
Skoda will be launching a new Fabia hatchback for international markets during the latter part of 2014. This will be dubbed as their 2015 Fabia model. We have a strong feeling that the Czech manufacturer could offer this model in India.
The 2015 Fabia is expected to share the Volkswagen MQB platform which is currently used for the VW Polo as well as Seat Ibiza. Don't expect this car soon, but it could very well make its way into the subcontinent by mid 2015.
Skoda will definitely update the styling of the Fabia to its current design style. We expect the Czech manufacturer to redesign the front grille. They will also work on the headlamps and could introduce LED Daytime Running Lights as an option.
The Fabia is expected to receive substantial changes for the rear end and designers will be retaining most of the front design. They don't want it to lose their Fabia identity.
Skoda will share the platform with VW, which could mean that the 2015 Fabia could be a tad longer as well as wider than the current generation Fabia. This will help occupants with more legroom as well as more boot space.
Fabia production has been stopped in India and Skoda is currently selling the hatchback to clear its current generation stock. The 2015 Fabia could revive the fortunes of Skoda, provided they price their hatchback aggressively.
We expect the 2015-spec Fabia to receive a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a turbocharger. They could also offer a more powerful 1.4-litre, turbocharged 3-cylinder diesel engine.
