2015 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Has 430 Horses
Porsche has just unveiled the brand new 2015 911 Carrera GTS, which is to be available in four variants, in coupe and cabriolet guise either with rear- or four-wheel-drive. Whether this car will reach India is unclear, but the latest 911 arrives to provide the suitably spectacular performance expected between the 911 Carrera S and the 911 GT3 driving experiences.
While critics will argue that it looks like just another 911, upon closer inspection the wide track and haunches of the Carrera 4 body and details like the matte black, centre locking 20-inch wheels and smoked bi-xenon headlamp units means you should be able to recognise the new GTS without too much trouble. If it's parked.
On the move though, it might be tough to glimpse it, let alone recognise it. That's because the 3.8-litre, flat-six spews out 430 horses eager to take all the GTS models to the better side of 300 km/h. The fastest variant will be the GTS Coupe equipped with that mad 7-speed manual transmission and rear-drive. All models will be available with the German manufacturer's PDK gearbox as well, which renders acceleration figures of 0-100 km/h of 4.0 seconds.
Other tech available on the new GTS are an adaptive damper system capable of lowering the car by 10 millimetres to aid handling and performance, and improved efficiency that allow the new sports car to retain the fuel economy of the S models. In addition, a sports exhaust detailed with black chrome-tipped tail pipes will provide all the aural entertainment a right foot wishes.
The interior of the Carrera GTS gets generous dollops of luxurious alcantara, including on the centre panels of the sports seats, like other GTS models from Porsche. If you're a Porsche guy, and want a bit more than your Carrera is capable of giving you, but don't want the the super-focused GT3, it's a great way to spend 117,549 Euros (around INR 93.30 lakh).
