Polaris Looking To Convert ATVs For Road Use In India
Polaris India has had a successful run in India so far, largely due to lack of competition. There wide range of reliable ATVs have found many takers, from personal users to organizations for recreational use and also by the military and police forces.
To keep the momentum going, in the coming 3 to 5 years Polaris India will be launching new models, Polaris India head, Pankaj Dubey has revealed, speaking to Cardekho.
Before that, however, we could see some new models based on its existing AV range, but unlike traditional ATVs, these will be road legal.
Converting existing ATV models to make them road legal would require Polaris India to comply the engine to emission norms for road use and make modifications such as adding rear view mirrors, indicator lamps and equipping them with road legal tyres.
These ‘tamed' ATVs will still be very capable off-road, says Dubey.
Furthermore, he also revealed that new vehicles from the Polaris India-Eicher Motors joint venture stable will also appear. Dubey said that these new vehicles will be "revolutionary" and that they will combine the strengths of both brands.
If we are to take a guess, we would say these would be quadricycles for personal use. Light commercial vehicle quadricycles from Eicher powered by Polaris engines is also a possibility.
