Nissan India Report Slowdown Of Sales In October, 2014
Japanese automobile giant Nissan recently celebrated its one year anniversary of Terrano in India. To mark this occasion the manufacturer launched an ‘Anniversary Edition' Terrano. The Terrano was their first compact SUV in India and it has been a successful product.
Nissan has shared their October sales report with us. The Japanese manufacturer managed to sell 4,880 vehicles in October, 2013. In the corresponding year their sales dipped by 16 percent. They sold only 4,106 vehicles in October, 2014.
The Japanese manufacturer has no reason to worry as it is up on the whole. Nissan sold 17,395 vehicles in fiscal year 2013, however, the manufacturer has already sold 29,847 vehicles in the ongoing fiscal year of 2014. This is an increase of 71.5 percent over last year and is a positive sign for the manufacturer.
Nissan recently launched a more premium Evalia. They are calling it their ‘Special Variant' model and have placed it above their top end variant. It gets several new features to give it a more premium and upmarket feel. They priced their urban-class utility vehicle at INR 11,61,930 ex-showroom, New Delhi.
The Japanese manufacturer offers in India a wide range of products. They offer hatchbacks like the Micra, Sunny sedan, Terrano compact SUV and a few more. They have also brought to India their more affordable brand of vehicles under Datsun branding.
In a recent test by Euro NCAP a crash test was conducted using the Datsun GO model. It was sad to say that analysts believe the hatchback is so weak structurally that airbags within the cabin would not be of any use in case of an accident.
