Nissan Developing Self-Cleaning Car
Washing a car can be tedious job, however, once done a sense of achievement and pride prevails when the car sparkles in the sunlight. We know the pain felt when a bird flying by ruins all your efforts or other members of the family take the car and bring it back with mud stains.
We know all these situations hurt us, especially after we have just washed and waxed our vehicle. Now Nissan is developing a new technology, where we can forget washing our cars. The new technology will give us peace of mind, as we will not have to take care of anything.
Nissan is developing an all-new nano-paint technology which will repel water and anything that can stick to the surface of the car. The new material used is super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint.
Nissan has used this new paint on their Note model, thus creating the first self-cleaning car in the world. The Japanese automobile manufacturer has provided a demo in the video below.
The Note is tested in real world conditions where there is standing water or sometimes mud. We can clearly see the muck or water just slip of the paint.
The Japanese automobile manufacturer has confirmed that the paint is a still in the preliminary stages of testing and could take a while for the final product. Their current issue is that the protective coat should be able to last for an extended period on the vehicle.
Geraldine Ingham, Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan Note, explains,"The Nissan Note has been carefully engineered to take the stress out of customer driving and Nissan's engineers are constantly thinking of new ways to make families' lives easier."
He further added,"We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application."
Nissan have named this additional coat their Ultra-Ever-Dry and will repel oil as well as water based products. It will also create a protective layer between the paint and the outside elements.
It will be great if Nissan could get this feature functional soon as it would also save water that is normally used to wash cars.
