New Skoda Yeti launched. The little SUV from the Czech manufacturer's stables has been facelifted for the Indian market, and adopts the new design language of the brand. The Yeti gets several new features, highlighted a little later in the story.

The new Yeti will be priced at INR 18.63 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the 2.0 TDI 81 KW variant, going up to INR 20.14 lakh for the more powerful 2.0 TDI 103 KW top variant.

The new Yeti gets a redesigned face and rear end, with new bi-xenon headlamps with retractable washers and automatic levelling, LED rear lights, new bumpers, new grille with chrome ribs and new fog lamps.
There are engine options on offer in the 2014 Skoda Yeti: a 2.0-litre turbodiesel producing 109 horsepower and a 2.0-litre turbodiesel producing 138 horsepower. Fact is it's the same engine in two states of tune.
The lower-powered, 109-horsepower engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the 138-horsepower version gets a 6-speed manual and four-wheel-drive as standard. The second version also features torque distribution.
With regards to fuel economy, the 2.0 TDI 81 KW and the 2.0 TDI 103 KW variants are claimed to be capable of achieving 17.72 kpl and 17.67 kpl respectively.
The 2014 Yeti gets a host of safety features including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), EBC (Electronic Braking Control), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) and EDL (Electronic Differential Lock). In addition, the car features electronic tyre pressure monitoring, hill-hold control assistant and downhill assistant.
