New Mini 3-Door & 5-Door Launching On 19th November, 2014
Mini is sold in India through BMW dealerships, as the German manufacturer is the parent company. The British based manufacturer has launched two new products in several markets. BMW had promised to get these new models to India as well.
On 19th November, 2014 India will witness the launch of new Mini 3-door and 5-door models. This is the second generation of the modern Mini and they see definite improvement. The 5-door is an all-new vehicle and it is the first time Mini has diverged from their 3-door models.
The manufacturer believes their 5-door model will have more appeal as it is a more practical option. Their 3-door model will still be preferred by those who prefer the traditional model. Mini has done a fantastic job by providing two options for customers to choose from.
Under the bonnet there will be a range of engines to choose from, however, it is unclear if all the options will be offered in India.
- A 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power of 135 bhp, along with 220 Nm of peak torque.
- A 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will be capable of producing 191 bhp of power, along with 289 Nm of peak torque.
- 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill will be capable of generating a power output of 168 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque.
Mini will provide either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed Steptronic transmission. Internationally, the vehicle gets a third option of a Steptronic sports gearbox. We believe in India the new Mini could be offered only with auto transmission.
The 5-door Mini will be an exclusive hatchback and we expect a price tag in the range of INR 25,00,000 ex-showroom and upwards. Stay tuned to our Twitter account as we will be providing live updates from the launch tomorrow.
