New Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Logo Unveiled
Fiat, the Italian auto giant and the owners of brands such as Ferrari and Maserati will henceforth be known by their new name Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. The company received the new name following the acquisition of the American auto company Chrysler by the Italians.
Fiat, which previously had a majority stake in Chrysler purchased the remaining 41.5 percent by paying approximately £2.6 billion. The deal was completed earlier this month following which the new entity Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was born. The company also has a new logo now, which is seen below.
Fiat says the new logo was launched as a new identity for the new entity and that it represents an organization that is much more than the sum of its two parts.
FCA will have its base in Netherlands and it will be taxed in the United Kingdom. A permanent global headquarters, meanwhile is yet to be decided upon.
Sergio Marchionne, CEO of FCA said, "Today we can say that we have succeeded in creating solid foundations for a global automaker with a mix of experience and know-how on a level with the best of our competitors."
The complete acquisition of Chrysler by Fiat is seen as a major move which will benefit the latter immensely. Besides enabling it to better manage its business in Europe the creation of FCA will help the former Fiat with its U.S plans. Such as with bringing the Alfa Romeo brand to the U.S. Fiat will now be able to better manage Chrysler's technology, resources and know how to further its plans globally. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is now the seventh largest automobile company in the world.
What does this mean for India? At least in the immediate run we hope this will accelerate the much delayed launch of the Jeep brand in our country.
