Japanese four-wheeler manufacturer Mitsubishi has launched a limited number of models in India. Their most popular vehicle has been their sedan ‘Lancer', which they followed up with the ‘Cedia'. They currently offer only their Pajero Sport SUV in India.

Mitsubishi India had some time ago launched a limited edition Pajero Sport that had a dual tone paint scheme, along with an anniversary special model. The Japanese manufacturer has now launched its Pajero Sport AT in India. They have priced their vehicle starting from INR 23,55,000 ex-showroom, Delhi.

The AT option will be only available as a two-wheel drive, providing power to rear wheels. It will be powered by the same 2.5-litre turbocharged diesel mill. The engineers have been able to extract maximum power of 175 bhp, along with 350 Nm of peak torque. They have also made their SUV lighter by 100 kilos, owing to the omission of the 4WD system.

The new features in Mitsubishi Pajero Sport AT are sports mode with paddle shifters, redesigned front grille, updated bumper with fog lamps, turn indicators integrated to ORVMs, along with a multi-information display. The SUV is an ideal choice for most as they spend most of their life in urban commutes.

Uttam Bose, HMFCL's Managing Director, commented, " Mitsubishi has reinforced its commitment to HMFCL and India. Sales increase of SUVs will boost the business fundamentals of our operations. Volumes will grow through launch of strategic models."

He further added, "We expect a quantum leap in our sales with the entry of the all new Pajero Sport and garnering of sizeable market share. HMFCL will also focus on expansion of its channel network so as to ensure availability across India."

With the inclusion of an AT version Mitsubishi's Pajero Sport will now compete with Hyundai's Santa Fe and Toyota's Fortuner. Both Hyundai and Toyota have a sizeable market in India and are offered with manual as well as automatic transmission options.
