Mercedes India Launching CLA Compact Sedan Early Next Year
To all most everyone's surprise Mercedes-Benz had launched their CLA45 AMG in India prior to their base model. It was highly untraditional of the manufacturer to provide its performance oriented product prior to the mass seller.
It is to no ones surprise that all the models, which were to be sold in India have already been sold out. The had promised they would be launching the compact sedans regular model soon as well. Their goal was to provide performance oriented vehicles to everyone.
The German manufacturer is now rumoured to launch their CLA compact sedan by early next year. It will be the most affordable product from the stables of Mercedes-Benz. They have significantly grown their product offering in India, as was promised at 2014 Auto Expo.
Mercedes-Benz India will provide its 2015 CLA compact sedan with both petrol and diesel engines:
The 2.0-litre petrol engine will produce 181 bhp, along with 300 Nm of peak torque.
The diesel engine gets a 2.2-litre mill, which generates 135 bhp, along with 300 Nm of peak torque output.
The German engineers have paired both petrol and diesel engines with a 7-speed dual-cluth auto transmission. This engine will send power only to the front wheels and there will be no option of all-wheel drive on offer.
We expect Mercedes-Benz India to launch their CLA compact sedan by January, 2015 itself. It will priced roughly between INR 40,00,000 to INR 50,00,000 ex-showroom. The German manufacturer plans to locally assemble several of its products, which will considerably lower the cost of its compact sedan.
